Migrating from SAP Business One to Odoo in Morocco

SAP Business One to Odoo migration in Morocco: cut licensing cost without losing functional coverage, with PCGE accounting migration and DGI compliance.

Last updated : April 2026

Moroccan companies leaving SAP Business One rarely do so for functional reasons. They do it because licensing and maintenance costs become disproportionate to actual use, particularly in group subsidiaries where the tool was mandated by head office. The question is therefore not whether Odoo does everything SAP does, but what you actually use SAP for, and at what price.

Why companies make this move

  • Materially lower total cost of ownership over three years, licensing and maintenance included
  • A far wider integrator ecosystem in Morocco, so less dependence on a single provider
  • Faster, cheaper customization, without going through a restricted certified partner list
  • Moroccan localization simpler to maintain, particularly payroll and statutory filings
  • Functional scope in SAP often oversized relative to a subsidiary's real usage

What we always carry across

  • Chart of accounts and mapping to the Moroccan PCGE where the group standard differs
  • Partners, items, bills of materials and routings
  • Opening balances, outstanding items and commitments
  • Stock movement history required for valuation
  • Current-year sales and purchase documents

Mapping the group chart of accounts

This is the difficulty specific to subsidiaries. The chart of accounts imposed by head office rarely follows the Moroccan PCGE, and the migration must produce two coherent views: local accounting compliant with DGI requirements, and consolidated reporting in the group format. Odoo handles that dual reading through parallel charts of accounts and entry mapping. We build the mapping table during scoping, with your finance department and, where it exists, the group's.

What you lose, honestly

SAP Business One retains an advantage in some complex industrial scenarios, particularly fine-grained multi-site production planning and certain advanced consolidation patterns. If your subsidiary genuinely uses those functions, the migration deserves serious examination rather than a decision made on price. In most cases we see in Morocco, the subsidiary uses a fraction of the installed scope and those functions are not in play. Scoping exists precisely to settle that question with facts.

The group constraint

When the ERP is mandated by head office, the decision is not purely technical. In that case we prepare a costed file comparing three-year cost, scope actually used and the reporting interfaces required, intended to be presented to the group. Several of our clients have obtained a local exemption on that basis. We do not promise the outcome, but we provide the costed argument that makes the question askable.

Budget to expect

A SAP Business One to Odoo migration typically starts around 80,000 MAD and frequently exceeds 200,000 MAD once group mapping and reporting interfaces enter the scope. Pricing follows the scoping audit, which is free and carries no commitment.

Frequently asked questions

Can Odoo report consolidated data in the group format?

Yes, through parallel charts of accounts and exports configured to the expected format. It is a mapping exercise done once, then automated. We test it on a real month before cutover.

Our head office mandates SAP. Is that a dealbreaker?

Not necessarily, but it is a governance constraint before it is a technical one. We provide the costed file needed to request a local exemption. The decision remains the group's.

How long does this kind of migration take?

Three to six months for a mid-sized subsidiary, against two to four for a Sage migration. Accounting mapping and reporting interfaces account for the difference.

What happens to our SAP history?

It is exported and archived in a readable, dated format, which covers retention obligations and audits. We carry the current and prior financial year into Odoo.

Let's talk about your project

The scoping audit is free and carries no commitment. It produces a written scope and a firm quote, even if you then decide not to go ahead with us.
